At the heart of everything we do is gender justice. Because we know that inequality and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) are not just women’s issues, but systemic barriers to peace, dignity, and development. That’s why gender justice cuts across all our work— whether we are responding to local humanitarian crises, pushing for transparent natural resource governance, or advocating for safer and more inclusive technology advancement.

In 2024, SOREX-NIGERIA empowered over 10,000 people through GBV prevention campaigns, trained 75 grassroots paralegals, supported 250 women with livelihood empowerment, and advanced digital safety, survivor services, and policy reforms efforts in Nigeria and West Africa. Support our efforts to defend human rights and advance gender justice in Africa.

Our Programs

Society for the Rights of the Excluded and Disempowered (SOREX) defends human rights and advances social justice in Nigeria and across Africa. We stand with those who are too often silenced—people living through humanitarian crises, communities impacted by climate change and poor resource governance, and groups negatively impacted by (or excluded from) the digital age.

Climate Justice and Resource Governance

We respond to crises and fragility with practical, rights-based solutions - integrating gender responsiveness in humanitarian action to protect women and girls, and address risks of Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

Peace Works and Humanitarian Action

Our response to climate change and and natural resource governance amplifies the leadership and voice of women and other disproportionately affected groups - ensuring their perspectives inform collective solutions.

Technology and Human Rights

We advocate for digital inclusion, responsible use of technology, and a focus on reducing gender gaps in digital access while protecting women and girls from online harassment, exploitation, and technology-facilitated GBV.
